But what has me wondering is what this is going to mean for India. Itna saara jobs hain kya wahaan par?
Already the folks that are in India don't have enough jobs, now add to that these foreign-returned, so-called better employees.
What does that mean for the already resident indians?

You will probably say that they are supposed to create jobs. But even if 1% of them do that, that will be awesome. That is where my doubt lies. Will they? Can they? They are leaving because they are fed of the US, not because they want to do something for the country. (this is true for the majority of them I think)

(Not sure if Wadhwa has already answered the question, I didn't read it all the way :)

@Kash - In agreement to your concern. And NO, Wadhwa does not talk about this issue primarily because, I think, he is aware that most Indian's come to the US with the idea of emigrating, but at the same time I think, he is optimistic that quite a few among them are the one's who will be among the job creators not job seekers, like me for the present :)

And I think their study was more directed towards young Indians at top business schools, who are more aware of the scope or market out there than in the US. Though entirely from the business point of view, but no economic upliftment can happen unless you have a strong well planned business plan :). That's where comes in socially profitable organizations or social entrepreneurship :)

Damm! I feel like doing a MBA now :) or get hold of an MBA, to think through certain things :)

I know two people who will do it for sure :)

This is an interesting issue.
AM almost at a crux of making the decision of going back. Time with age is running out...no sight of getting GC here for a long time...

Like you mentioned above - am too of a kind to create jobs not really want to do one..so feel stuck currently...

the only thing that hinders is the rampant corruption back home in the industry i deal with....

I think its time to rethink and find a new continent :) start with a clean slate

I am said...

@CD- in your industry, :O !!! I think its the only trait that unities the whole country !!!!!!!

serious note let us know when/where u find a new slate though..all the best

aah, ok, I read the whole article, and he says "nearly half were considering launching businesses".

So I suppose I stand corrected :) I sincerely hope what he is saying becomes reality some day.

ceedy, that excuse of "corruption" is not acceptable! :) Think of a better reason than that.

prashant, main to Santa Clara chhod ke kahin nahi jaa rahi. Tanu jaa rahi hai NE :)
